Winter Snow Scene Pine Cone Craft

Every kid loves paint. Even if they’re not the most artistic kid in the world, there’s always some craft you can do with paint that they can be involved in. Like paint splattering. You don’t need a lot of talent to splatter paint, but it’s fun. And when it’s winter and you use white paint, you get a snowy effect like our Winter Snow Scene Pine Cone Craft.

For our Winter Snow Scene, I also “borrowed” some pine cones from a neighbor’s yard. In my defense, they were more by the road than in his yard and I don’t think he’ll miss them. They serve a much better purpose in this pine cone craft.

Supplies needed:

  • green, blue, white, and brown construction paper
  • pine cones
  • white paint
  • scissors
  • glue

First, cut out and make your stands for the pine cone trees.

For this, simply cut a strip of brown paper and form a circle for your pine cone to sit, like the trunk of your tree. Secure with glue or leave free-standing to move your trees around the paper.

Next, cut out the sky. Simply take a blue sheet of paper and cut with squiggly lines across. Glue in place. Cut out a few clouds with your white paper and glue on top of the page, too. You can also take another sheet of green paper and, cutting a bit more even than the sky but still with some movement, make the grass. This is optional as your sheet is green anyway.

Now, cover your table with old newspapers and lay down your winter scene. Your kids might want to put on old clothes. Mix white paint and just a few drops of water, then load up your brush. Simply fling your brush at the paper and make it snow!

This Winter Snow Scene Pine Cone Craft is literally a 10 minute craft, but so festive and fun! I mean, the whole point is to make a mess, how can that not be fun?! Also, once dried, it makes a winter wonderful table decoration or centerpiece.
