Cardboard Roll Stamped Hedgehog Craft

It’s always fun to make things with everyday household items. For instance, turn a clean and empty toilet paper size cardboard roll into a stamp with just a few snips. Then, make this super colorful and oh so cute Cardboard Roll Stamped Hedgehog Craft. So much better than just throwing the rolls away!

This hedgehog craft is so fun, in fact, that we couldn’t stop making them. I think we made at least 10, in every color we could. We didn’t think at the time to make a rainbow of hedgehogs, but that would be a neat idea.

Cardboard Roll Stamp Fall Hedgehog Craft

To make our colorful hedgehog craft you will need cardboard rolls, acrylic paint in your choice of color, cardstock in white and tan, a black marker, a 1” circle paper punch, small googly eyes, scissors, and a glue stick.

Paint Stamped Hedgehog Craft Supplies Needed

  • Cardboard rolls
  • Acrylic paint – your choice of colors,
  • Cardstock – white, tan
  • Black marker
  • 1” circle paper punch
  • Googly eyes, small
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick

Cardboard Roll Stamp Hedgehog Step by Step Directions

Begin with toilet paper size cardboard rolls and your choice of colors. You will need one cardboard roll for every color. We’ve tried cutting the rolls in half before, but in our experience the full size rolls are easier to grip.

Cut snips in cardboard roll.

Cut about 2” snips going up the roll.

Bend snips back.

Bend back the snipped pieces.

Pour generous amount of paint.
Dip roll into paint.

Now, pour a generous amount of paint on a flat surface. A paper plate or scrap piece of cardstock works well. Dip the cardboard roll in the paint.

Stamp cardboard roll on white cardstock.

Then, on a white sheet of cardstock, decide where you want your hedgehog and start stamping with the cardboard roll.

Continue stamping until the circle is filled. Be sure to use the cardboard roll to get color in the center, too. Let the paint dry completely.

Cut face shape and punch circle.

Next, cut a triangle face shape, with a point going up. Also, use a 1” paper punch to make a circle for the feet. Cut the circle in half. 

Use black marker to color in nose, add mouth, and draw toe lines on feet.

Use a black marker to color in the tip of the face shape for the nose. Draw a simple mouth and add 3 lines to the half circle shapes for toes.

Glue face in place.

Then, when the paint is dry, glue the face in place.

Add eye.

Glue the feet in place, too. Add a googly eye to finish this darling hedgehog craft.
