To make our crayon resist bookmarks for mom you will need heavy white cardstock, a white crayon, watercolors, a hole punch, yarn, and scissors.

  • White crayon
  • Watercolors
  • Single hole punch
  • Yarn – assorted colors
  • Scissors

Mother’s Day Crayon Resist Bookmarks Step by Step Directions

Begin by cutting a sheet of white cardstock in half. Then cut those halves in half again. So you’ll have 4 strips.

Draw design with white crayon.

Now, use the white crayon to draw whatever design you’d like for mom.

Begin painting over your design with watercolors.

Once the design is drawn, gather your watercolors and begin painting the bookmark.

Paint bookmark.

As you paint, the white crayon will show through.

Let paint dry completely.

Punch hole at one end of bookmark.

When the paint is fully dry, use a hole punch to make a single hole at one end of the bookmark.

Snip a long strand of yarn.

Then, snip a long strand of yarn.

Double up yarn, then double up again.

Put fingers through hoops of yarn.
