Now that the weather is getting warmer here, we’re maybe dreaming of the beach and the ocean. Along with it, we’re dreaming of fun ocean creatures, and making up fun crafts after them like this Paper Bag Bubble Wrap Octopus Craft! So much fun in one craft!

So much paint and vibrancy, this octopus craft is a great craft for summer. The bubble wrap is the perfect material to make the colorful suckers on the octopus tentacles. And who doesn’t love playing with all different colors of paint? It’s always exciting to watch it all come together!

Bubble Wrap Octopus Paper Bag Craft

To make our colorful octopus craft you will need brown paper lunch bags, bubble wrap, acrylic paint in an assortment of colors, large googly eyes, and scissors.

Craft supplies needed.

Bubble Wrap Octopus Craft Supplies Needed

  • Brown paper lunch bags
  • Bubble wrap
  • Acrylic paint – assorted colors
  • Googly eyes, large
  • Scissors

Paper Bag Octopus Craft Step by Step Directions

Start by gathering your paint colors.

Gather paint colors.

We chose about 8 different colors to really make it colorful. Choose whatever and however many colors you like.

Paint bubble wrap.

Now, with a sheet of bubble wrap that’s at least as large as the brown paper lunch bag, begin painting the paint colors on the bubble wrap.

Press front of bag into bubble wrap.

Once all your paint colors are loaded on the bubble wrap, lift the flap of the paper lunch bag and press into the bubble wrap.

Make sure you press in all areas.

Lift bag away from paint.

Then, lift the paper bag from the bubble wrap.

Continue stamping for more octopuses.

You can continue stamping the paper bags with the bubble wrap to make as many octopuses as you’d like. Reapply the paint when needed, or use a different sheet of bubble wrap to make a different pattern of colors.

Let dry completely.

Let the paint dry completely.

Paint flap a solid color.

When the paint is dry, paint the flap of the bag a solid color. We chose magenta, purple, and dark blue. Let that dry, as well.

Cut body into 8 strips.

The next step is to cut the body of the bag into 8 strips.

Lift top layer of painted strips.
Cut away excess bottom layers.

Cut away the excess bag from beneath the top layer of painted strips.

Bend strips from under flap so they flare slightly.

Bend the strips from under the flap so they flare out slightly.

Add large googly eyes.

Finally, add large googly eyes to the flap of the bag.
