Because of course our Cinco de Mayo tacos need mustaches, we have a Free Printable Mustache Template to make sure your taco craft is fully in the fiesta mood. Mustaches and googly eyes, they’re the funnest tacos ever! Though maybe not the tastiest. I do not recommend eating these tacos.

Paper Plate Taco Craft Step by Step Directions
Start by painting a paper plate tan.

We actually didn’t have tan, so we had to mix brown and white, with a bit of yellow. This was actually really fun and a great lesson in mixing colors. If you have tan paint, though, then that makes it a lot easier. Let the paint dry completely.

When the paint is dry, use the black sharpie to make some random quick lines and dots across the paint, to mimic a taco shell.

We then went back over the lines with a very, very thin layer of the tan paint to fade the lines. Wait for the paint to dry again.

Now, when the paint is fully dry, fold the paper plate in half.

Cut your colors of tissue paper in squares or small strips. We used green, orange, purple, and dark pink tissue paper because it’s what we had on hand. Use whatever colors you would like for whatever toppings you’d like on your taco.

Open the plate. Apply a layer of glue around the inner edges of the paper plate and begin laying the tissue paper randomly around the plate. Make sure the tissue paper is coming out from the edges of the plate.

Once all the tissue paper is set, apply another spot of glue at the top of the plate. Fold the plate back together and press into the glue to seal together.

Next, print and cut out the mustache. Trace the mustache on black cardstock and cut out.

Finally, add googly eyes and glue mustache in place.

Now go make more of these fun tacos while eating some real tacos and celebrating Cinco de Mayo! Or would be a fun craft for Taco Tuesday, too!
