Smush Painting Earth Craft Step by Step Directions

Begin by protecting the surface you’ll be smushing paint on. If you apply more paint than needed it will seep out the edges.

Squeeze drops of paint on white cardstock.
Drops of blue, green, and a bit of purple paint.

Now, on one sheet of white cardstock, squeeze drops of blue, green, and even a few drops of purple paint.

Place other sheet of white cardstock on paint.

Next, place the other sheet of white cardstock directly on the paint.

Smush the paint.

At this point, we used our hands to smush the paint in every direction between the two sheets. This entails literally just smushing the paint. You could use a piece of cardboard for this step instead of your hands, however, or any sturdy, flat material. It may get a bit messy at the edges.

Remove top sheet of cardstock.

Keep smushing until you feel the paint is fully dispersed to all edges of the sheets of cardstock Then, remove the top sheet of cardstock.

Lay sheets flat to dry,
Let dry completely.

Lay the sheets of cardstock flat and let dry completely.

Trace circle.

When the paint is dry, print the circle and cut out. Trace the circle on the smush painting.

Cut out the Earth.

Finally, cut out the circle from the smush painted cardstock to make your Earth. I find fascinating all the waves and ripples the smush painting creates.
