Cardboard Roll Graduation Cap Craft
Graduation day is quickly approaching! We’re excited to share some preschool and/or kindergarten graduation crafts, because that’s a huge milestone and it’s a super big deal. We’re starting with this really fun and simple Cardboard Roll Graduation Cap Craft.

These graduation caps are a fun way to celebrate your graduate, and also a great decor piece, too. Because you gotta celebrate! Why not get everyone involved and make some fun, handmade crafts for the occasion? That seems to be my answer for everything, though.

Graduation Cap Cardboard Roll Craft
To make our graduation caps you will need toilet paper size cardboard rolls, black acrylic paint, black cardstock, yellow yarn, a 1” circle paper punch, a glue stick, and scissors.

Graduation Cap Decor Craft Supplies Needed
- Cardboard roll
- Black acrylic paint
- Black cardstock
- Yellow yarn
- 1” circle paper punch
- Glue stick
- Scissors
Cardboard Roll Graduation Cap Craft Step by Step Directions
Begin with a clean toilet paper size cardboard roll.

Paint the cardboard roll black. Let the paint dry completely.

While the paint is drying, cut a square from the black cardstock. Our square was about 2 3/4″ and that worked well.

Now, gather some yellow yarn and make about 5 loops. You will want the yarn loops roughly 4 inches in length.

Make a knot on one end of the yarn, about an inch into the yarn, so one end is longer than the other. We knotted ours twice.

On the longer end, cut away all but one of the strands of yarn.

Punch a 1” circle from the black cardstock.

Glue the long strand of yarn to the center of the black square and glue the black circle on top.

Lastly, once the paint is fully dry, cut the cardboard roll in half.

Glue the black square to the top of the cardboard roll.

So cute, and the perfect fun handcrafted decor piece for all your graduation celebrations!
