We had a lot of fun making this Craft Stick Haunted House Craft for Halloween! Because Halloween just needs a haunted house. With this haunted house, you can really add anything to it that you like, which is a great way to make it unique.

Craft Stick Haunted House Craft

For our haunted house, we added boards across the door made with black cardstock, then wrote “Keep Out” with a white paint pen on each. We used a silver paint pen to draw designs on the roof and chimney. Then, we finished off our haunted house with googly eyes in the windows, like ghosts peeking out.

Haunted House Craft Step by Step Directions

Begin by gathering 8 regular wooden craft sticks for the house and 3 for the roof.

Glue craft sticks together.

Glue the 8 craft sticks for the main part of the house together. The easiest way we’ve always glued our craft sticks together is by gluing a scrap piece of cardstock to the back of all of them, then make sure you give time to let the glue set. I prefer not to use hot glue when working with little kids, but you could always use that instead.

Paint the 8 house craft sticks in the color of choice.

Paint the 8 craft sticks in your choice of colors.

Paint 3 craft sticks black.

Paint the 3 craft sticks for the roof black. Let all the paint dry completely.

Glue black craft sticks to black cardstock in triangle pattern.

Now, when the paint is dry, glue the 3 roof sticks in a triangle pattern on black cardstock. Give time to let the glue set. You could use glue dots instead, or hot glue.

Trim away excess cardstock.

Cut away all the excess around the triangle.

Glue roof to house.

Glue the triangle at a slight angle to the top of the main house.

Cut out door and window shapes.

Then, cut a door shape from gray cardstock and a square window from yellow.

Outline door and window and glue in place.

Outline the door and window with black marker then glue in place.

Draw details on roof with gray paint pen.

Add details to the roof with a silver paint pen. Also, cut a rectangle from black cardstock for the chimney. Use the silver paint pen to add details to it, as well.

Add paper strip bars across door.

Cut two small strips from black cardstock for the boards blocking the door. Glue in place.

Write Keep Out on bars.

Use a white paint to write “Keep Out” on one of the strips.

Add small googly eyes in window.

Finally, add a few really small googly eyes to the windows for the ghosts peeking through. You can also add Halloween stickers or cutouts to complete your super fun haunted house.
