Paper Plate Party Hat Craft
I think the thing that everybody loves about New Year’s Eve is that it’s a universally accepted occasion to party. Big or small, young and old, it’s a chance to go all out, because tomorrow starts new. But every party needs fun party hats, and that’s where our Paper Plate Party Hat Craft comes in!
Did you know that it is super easy to turn a paper plate into a party hat? It’s already in the right shape needed to wrap into a cone, and it’s sturdy so it won’t fall part, either. Just add a string and you have the cutest, most fun little hat that you made yourself. Kids will love it!

Make New Year’s Party Hats out of Paper Plates
Supplies needed:
- Paper plates
- Black acrylic paint
- Metallic markers
- Shiny poms
- Glue dots
- Clear tape
- Scissors
Begin by painting the bottom of a paper plate black.
You can leave what would normally be the top untouched. Let the paint dry.
Once dry, cut the paper plate in half.
Draw your New Year’s design on the plate.
Now, wrap the half paper plate around itself, forming a point on top.
And use the clear tape to secure in place.
Finally, use a glue dot to secure a pom to the top of the hat.
You can punch two holes on the bottom of the hat and attach some elastic cording to make it a true party hat.
