We love the texture that stamping with a cardboard roll on a paper plate gives these Truffalo Trees. It really reminds me of their bushy tops in The Lorax. And who can resist a fun painting activity?

Paper Plate Truffalo Trees Craft supplies needed.

To make these breezy Truffalo Trees you will need paper plates, acrylic paint in orange and pink, yellow and black cardstock, a toilet paper size cardboard roll, scissors, and glue.

Dr. Seuss Truffalo Tree Craft Step by Step Directions

Begin with a clean toilet paper size cardboard roll.

Make snips up cardboard roll.

Make slits all around one end of the roll, going about halfway up the roll.

Bend snips flat.

Now, bend the slits so they’re flat.

Dip cardboard roll in paint.

Spread your choice of paint colors on a flat surface. We like to use extra paper plates. You will need a large space, so one paint color per plate would be best. Dip all the edges of the cardboard roll in a paint color.

Stamp across paper plate.

And begin stamping around the paper plate you’re using for the Truffalo Tree.

Continue stamping until plate is full.

Continue stamping until the plate is covered to your liking. Leave some wispy edges with the white showing through, like the uneven, bushy edges in The Lorax.

Cut a strip from yellow cardstock.

When the plate is fully stamped and dry, cut a long rectangular strip from yellow cardstock.

Cut smaller strips from black cardstock.

Also cut some shorter black strips, that just fit across the yellow strip.

Randomly glue black strips across yellow strip.

Glue the black strips randomly across the yellow strip.

Glue strip to paper plate.

Finally, glue the top of the yellow strip to the back of the paper plate.
