Watercolor Coffee Filter Turkey Craft
It’s turkey time! Turkey craft time, that is. And this Watercolor Coffee Filter Turkey Craft, using washable markers for some super vibrant colors, is such a fun one!
We absolutely adore the bright tie dye effect feathers on these turkeys. Simply color a coffee filter with washable markers and spray it until just wet. Then let dry. The colors magically blend. It’s really fun and makes for beautiful turkey feathers!
We’ve done some other pretty nifty turkey crafts, too, like our Clothespin Leaf Turkey Craft, Cardboard Yarn Wrapped Turkey Craft, Simple Folded Paper Turkeys, and our CD Fall Leaf Turkey Craft.
To make our Watercolor Coffee Filter Turkey Craft you will need coffee filters, washable markers, a spray bottle with water, cardstock in brown, red, and yellow, wood clothespins, a 1” paper hole punch, scissors, and a glue stick.
Create a Watercolor Turkey with Washable Markers
- Coffee filters
- Washable markers
- Spray water bottle
- Cardstock – brown, red, yellow
- Wood clothespins
- Googly eyes, small
- 1” paper punch
- Glue stick
Begin by making your watercolor feathers, because they’ll need time to dry.
Lay a coffee filter flat. Use an array of washable marker colors to color the entire coffee filter.
Now, spray with water until just wet. Don’t soak it, because the colors will run. Just damp. Depending on your water bottle 1-3 sprays should do it.
Let the coffee filters dry completely.
Next, use the paper punch to make a 1” circle from the brown cardstock.
Also cut out a beak and red snood.
Glue all in place on the brown circle. Then glue to the top of the clasp part of the clothespin.
Now, fold the coffee filter in half and gather together.
Place in the clasp of the clothespin.
Use an assortment of colors and draw a variety of designs to see all the different kinds of “feathers” you can make!
This is such a beautiful turkey craft, and a fun way to mix colors. We have more ideas, too! Be sure to check out all of our Thanksgiving crafts for kids at Our Kid Things!
